Your new baby is your greatest treasure, your main reason for living, and your biggest joy in your heart that will last you for the rest of your life. The only thing you need to know now is how to lose baby weight that you gained during your pregnancy. Maybe if you stuck to your diet a little harder, or did a little more moving during your pregnancy you wouldn’t be in this position, but don’t worry. You are not the only person in the world to gain weight during pregnancy so we’ll cover ways to shed infant weight.
There are a few great ways to shed infant weight. The first thing you should be aware of is that diets just don’t work…so don’t plan on “dieting” to lose the weight. You will probably suffer needlessly during the diet and then gain all the weight back anyway…a lose-lose situation if you ask me. If you constantly feel deprived of your favorite foods like chips and salsa, hot-dogs, hamburgers with all the fixings, or a juicy pepperoni pizza, you will be so stressed out, you will actually cause yourself to gain further weight rather than lose weight.
Instead of dieting, what you should focus on is just to “eat when you are hungry”. It’s a trick my mother taught me, and I think it works amazingly well. Just don’t stuff your face unless you are truly hungry, and even then you want to ask yourself “what is my body REALLY craving?”, and then eat that if you want to know how to lose baby weight. You will eat less, and ultimately be happier, and lose a lot of weight in the process without much heartache.
Be sure to eat a well-balanced variety of foods and something from all the basic food groups (but don’t load up too much on fats or sugars). Also, be sure you are consuming enough calories so your body never goes into a mode of holding onto excess weight. Try to aim at eating 1,800 calories or slightly more per day, especially for those mothers that breast feed their kids.
On top of eating well-balanced meals each day, you want to try to load up on “super foods” that are packed full of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, even omega 3′s. You will really pack a punch of a highly nutritious intake of foods without tons of unwanted or unneeded calories that will do you no good. So when it comes to ways to shed infant weight, super foods such as chlorella, spirulina, blue-green algae powder, broccoli, wheat germ, wheat grass, and many others are generally very light in calories and fat, while high in all the great things your body needs to be at it’s best.
An even better superfood for ways to shed infant weight will have omega-3 fatty acids while having a high quality protein content (which will help burn fat even faster). Try to eat things like salmon, sardines, tuna, or other cold-water fish. It tastes amazing, especially with a little bit of herbs and lemon, but will get your body down to a great size quickly.
